Narrative
The design mandate for Hidden Valley High School was to develop a thoroughly modern high school that would accommodate an enrollment of 900 students initially and be expanded to 1100 in the future.The school would fully integrate current technologies, have the infrastructure to adapt to future technologies, and create a dynamic educational environment that would endure well into the future.

The design solution organizes the academic spaces into three two-story academic houses along one side of the plan, with large public spaces such as the gymnasium, auditorium, and cafeteria/commons along the opposite side of the plan. A wedge-shaped space between these components contains Administration and Guidance, Media Center, Technology and Business Education, and Work and Family Studies.

Hidden Valley High School won design awards from the Virginia School Boards Association in 2002 and the Blue Ridge Chapter of the AIA in 2003.
