Narrative
Originally built as a luxury hotel in 1927, Overlook at Pine Knoll is the adaptive re-use of the historic Knollwood building into 20 spacious retirement living apartments and community spaces. As one of only three existing Jacobean Tudor buildings in the U.S., the design team researched the region’s rich architectural heritage and preserved the historic features/characteristics of the Knollwood building. The final design incorporates the best of the building’s older elements into a new design with enhanced services and amenity spaces for seniors.

Community spaces include a grand lobby/concierge, formal dining room, pub, billiards room, chapel and other activity spaces. The golf pro shop was also renovated into four different independent living apartments with golf course views and exterior amenity spaces.
