Virginia Western Community College Humanities Building
VWCC's Humanities Building houses general classrooms, offices, art studios, photography labs, computer labs and physical education spaces. In this 29,000sf building, classrooms and faculty offices are adjacent to one another, with wide corridors to encourage student and faculty interaction. The building's focal point is a rounded, "glass silo" entrance hall and skylight roof. The "silo" design enhances the sense of entry into the facility, allows an abundance of northern light into the building, and connects the different floor levels. The entrance hall and corridor walls also serve as an informal art gallery for the works of regional and student artists.
