Arbor Acres has an ambitious vision for the future of their campus with the needs of their current and future residents in mind. This vision includes re-vamping much of the existing campus core, including many amenity spaces, new independent living apartments, and covered parking additions. Outdoor spaces, natural vegetation, and opportunities for art are all high priorities at Arbor Acres.

Elevations were inspired by classic architecture elements and vernacular of the Winston-Salem area, and in keeping with Arbor Acres’ goals, the design team is also visioning a style which allows the community to find its own voice and identity for generations to come.

The renovations, expansions, and additions have been taking place in phases with minimal resident disturbance.Additionally, a new 260-seat Performing Arts Center with a stage is planned to ensure their residents can participate in many art-centered activities.

This will have a porte cochère front door drop off for visitors, a two-story glass atrium gathering space, and an outdoor plaza facing the lake. Above the performing arts level are four floors of premium apartments and an administrative suite.

The first phase is on an open site by the edge of their iconic lake offering views of the downtown Winston-Salem skyline. This phase included 60 new luxury independent living apartments spread out into three small, four floor Villas and one five floor building.
