New Possibilities in Senior Living

SYCAMORE SPRINGS: A GARDEN SPOT COMMUNITY

CONNECTED NEIGHBORHOODS

Sycamore Springs is an expansion of Garden Spot Village, creating one community with multiple neighborhoods, much like a small town. The homes are clustered in small neighborhoods (12 – 15 homes) around a common green space. Walking paths and sidewalks connect the homes in the green with the Commons Building that is a shared venue for neighborhood events. Multi-story designs and close side-to-side setbacks are utilized to keep the footprint minimized.

AUTHENTIC COMMUNITY

Garden Spot Village was seeking to create a design that would encourage and facilitate authentic community with deep relationships and a sense of shared experience among those who would live there. The building design and landscape architecture grew out of that motivation. Particular focus was placed on the design elements that would create a sense of place and promote the intimacy of a small neighborhood.

LIVABLE SPACES

Each home has a “livable” front porch that is sized to allow people to place furniture and spend time at that location, giving them access to everything happening on the green. All of the homes are positioned so that they have line of sight to the Common’s House and can stay visually connected with what is happening there.
